George and I just got back from Palm Springs!!! My dad has lived in Palm Springs for 20+ years now and I’m embarrassed to tell you how long it’s been since we visited. I’m a horrible daughter for so many reasons. Anyway, it was so nice to spend more than a week hanging out here:
Of course, I sat in the shade and slathered 8 gallons of SPF 50 sunscreen on myself every 3 minutes. Per usual, this was G:
We had a few plans while we were in Palm Springs, but we made sure to spend three days doing nothing and hanging out by the pool.
G’s sister, Debbie, visited us from LA and it was great to see her.
Oh, here’s dumb G and my dumb dad:
My dad works in LA so he was only able to visit us on the weekends, but it was really nice to be able to spend time with him.
Also, after 20+ years of visiting Palm Springs I finally went on the aerial tram!
It was really fun, but also weird because it was about 8,000 degrees at the bottom of the tram and then like 4 degrees at the top! That is snow in the picture above. While I took a sweatshirt with me, I also wore shorts and flip flops…whoops. George wore real shoes but wore shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. That idiot had to buy a hoodie when we got to the tram. Wow.
The views were incredible.
We went to LA for a day to visit some of my friends from law school (don’t worry, I’m also surprised I had friends in law school). And then later on in the week, we went to the BNP Paribas Open!!! It’s a tennis tournament outside of Palm Springs in Indian Wells. We went a few years ago, but the tournament’s grown so much since then and now all the major tennis players participate. The tournament goes through this weekend, but we went early in the tournament so we could see as many of the top players as possible.
And that was very smart. We saw Venus and Serena, Djokovic, Halep, Azarenka, Nadal, Sloan Stevens, Tsonga, Monfils, Andy Murray, John Isner, Donald Young, Nick Kyrgios, Coco Vandeweghe, Jankovic, Sam Stosur, Wozniacki and about a trillion more. Basically, we saw a bunch of bad@ss motherf*ckers. If you’re a tennis fan, this is a great tournament to see a lot of players. You can watch the players practice and get pretty close to them, too.
Here’s Nadal practicing:
And here’s Djokovic:
People would wait forever for the players to show up and the players were all really nice to everyone. A lot of them took pictures and gave autographs too. Tsonga was happy when everyone cheered when he entered the practice court:
Also, listening to him speak French to his coach and hitting partner…OMG. If G dies, I’m going to be stalking Tsonga.
I think G is going to start stalking Coco Vandeweghe.
See G in the first row with his f*cking dumb hand raised, waving at me. What an idiot. I’m still surprised G didn’t get kicked out or arrested.
Needless to say, we had a really great time and we are already planning our trip next year. Too much fun.
