Last week, we made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the best dog in the world. It was one of the most difficult decisions we’ve had to make in a very long time. Jack’s been with me since I was 21 and he was only 10 weeks old.
He was with me when I graduated from college, attended law school, took bar exams, got married, and adopted cats. He was George’s first pet.
He was a total bad ass with his mohawk:
And he’s the reason my mom got Max, the polar bear:
Max and Jack were good friends.
At almost 14 years and three months, Jack’s quality of life was beginning to decrease rapidly and it was difficult to watch. We found a vet that would come to the house and that was the best gift we could give Jack. Jack was not stressed out, he didn’t have to go anywhere and he was excited to have a visitor! As difficult as it was (and still is) for us, I know we made the right decision.
He will always be loved and missed.
Oh, so, so sorry. Jack was indeed a great dog, and he had such a wise face. Going to miss seeing him in your posts. Dogs are the best, aren’t they? They can also break your heart. Our dog is 14 years, 6 months and we will soon also have to make the same difficult decision. Big hugs to you and George, and doggy heaven pets to Jack.
So sorry for your loss of Jack. I’m sure he’s happy and comfortable now in doggy heaven. Xoxoxo
Thank you for doing the most loving thing for Jack. I know you will miss his sweet face.
Oh Marni…..
We will all miss him! Your are a very responsible and brave pet owner.
I’m so very sorry! It’s one of the hardest things for us to deal with, as doggie parents. Much love to you all.
I can imagine how difficult and painful making your decision was, but I am sure Jack would thank you for being so brave and loving. My best to you and George.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is VERY, VERY hard.
