Yesterday, George and I had a very long to-do list. I was really hoping to get a new dining table and George had his sights set on a new receiver and DVD player. We headed out early and went straight to IKEA. I knew I needed to get a table that could be extended to fit a lot of family and I wanted one that could take a lot of wear and tear…we have waaay too many nieces and nephews that are dying to f*ck our sh*t up.
We settled on the Stornas table at IKEA in the antique stain finish.
I put it together all by myself because George was busy making out with setting up the receiver and surround sound.
I’m a little surprised that we didn’t get the darker, black-brown finish on the table, but we both decided that the antique stain finish will wear better. We are going to get new chairs too, but I could only handle spending so much money at one time. Spending money really makes me feel like throwing up sometimes.
I really like that the table has two leaves that can be stored inside the table. Brilliant, right?! And when the leaves are added, you can fit at least 10 people at the table. I think that’s amazing.
And if you’re wondering who that is on the mantel, it’s George’s good friend, Jack.
A great birthday present from my dad to George a few years ago. And George always has him on display.
The good news is that I’m finally feeling a bit more settled. Our to-do list is still a mile long, but we made so much progress in the last week I don’t feel like punching G in the balls every minute. Only about once an hour.
Hi Marni, How do you have time to work? I love your new table. I am so glad you are settling in. I know your list is long–one thing at a time and don’t get tooooo overwhelmed. love you, PearlDate: Tue, 9 Apr 2013 03:45:02 +0000 To: candicoe@msn.com
Now that you mention it, work is really interfering with my life.
