The Liebster Blog Award is given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers, and nominated by fellow bloggers. Liebster is a German word meaning sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome. (I stole that from Thought Provoking Moments.)
I’m not sure I qualify as an up and coming blogger as I have more than 200 followers (shocking, I know), and I’m not sure I’m sweet, nice or lovely. But I loved the questions Nikki sent out for me to answer (even though it’s taken me almost two weeks to answer). Thanks, Nikki…I do think you’re sweet, nice, lovely, kind and adorable.
1. What is your favorite season and why?
I don’t have a favorite season. I love the change of seasons. Going from hot to cool, then from cool to cold, the thaw of winter into spring and then the spring into summer. when you see the sun for the first time in months, when you get to wear a sundress or put on a sweater and jeans for the first time. LOVE IT.
2. What is your favorite movie?
As a kid, my favorite movies were Dirty Dancing and Silence of the Lambs. Yeah, SOTL scares the sh*t out of me now. Wow. Today, though, I’m more into comedies, like Bridesmaids. Although, one of my all-time favorites is The Shawshank Redemption.
3. What is your biggest fear?
Not accomplishing my goals, or not doing everything I can to accomplish my goals. There are so many things I want to do in life, I’m afraid I won’t be able to do everything. My fear of not accomplishing my goals is probably one of the major reasons I don’t want to have kids. I know my goals/priorities would change and I’m don’t want that to happen…at least not at this point in my life.
4. If you could find out one celebrity was following your blog, who would you want it to be?
Oprah, Chelsea Handler or Kathy Griffin. They are strong, powerful and amazing women. And I think they are all pretty hilarious. I would be floored if any of them read and/or cared about my little place on the internet.
5. Who do you tell your secrets to?
Depending on the secret…George or my sister. For the first 23-26 years of my life, my sister was my number one secret holder. After getting married, George and I have our own secrets (and jokes) that we only share with each other. I love this about being married. Being tied to one person for the rest of my life? Not so much.
6. Place you would most like to travel to?
OMG, there are so many places I HAVE TO GO. I really want to go everywhere. If I could go anywhere now, I’d take my mom on a trip to Europe…she’s never been, she loves history and I’d love to be there when she sees it all.
7. Toilet paper – over or under?
I guess I don’t have a preference on this one. And right now, Bing believes the toilet paper is his arch enemy so we have to keep it on a shelf above the toilet…because he will just tear the hell out of it’s on the holder. What a monster.
8. What motivates you?
I think motivation comes pretty easily to me (unless it involves staying on a diet). It comes from my desire to do as much as possible and not let life “pass me by”. To travel, spend time with my family and friends, do nice things for people and not spend my life working.
9. What is your favorite type of exercise?
Right now, my favorite type of exercise is lifting weights. When I have a nice pool nearby, I love to swim…that’s really my favorite, mostly because I’m good at it.
10. What makes you laugh?
Life makes me laugh. I laugh all the time…when I was a kid, my grandfather called my sister and me “The Giggle Twins” and it’s still true today. I find most things very amusing, even when bad stuff happens. I get through life by laughing and I think that’s helped me get through some very difficult and f*cked up things.
11. Who do you admire?
SO.MANY.PEOPLE. For so many reasons. My mom, my dad, my grandparents, my godparents…I could really go on forever. But specifically:
My brother and sister – who are both legally blind, but who have accomplished so much. They learned to adapt and never let anyone tell them they couldn’t do something. Amazing.
George – I often tell him not to tell me about the first 24 years of his life because it scares me and makes me sad. But when I sit down and really think about the things he went through and the person he is today…I admire him so much.
Okay, that’s all from me. Hope you enjoyed all of this reading!! Thank you, Nikki, for nominating me…sorry it took me so long to do my post.
