On the 4th, I ran the C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run in Hillsboro, Oregon. Because I live in South Jesus and my brother lives in Hillsboro, I decided to spend the night at my brother’s house. I still had to get up early…
But not as early as I’d have to get up if I stayed at home. Fortunately, it was a beautiful morning.
And there were a lot of people out there for the race.
Or maybe they just went for the bounce house and kid stuff.
Anyway, the race started right on time and I was excited to get the damn thing over with.
As you know, I’ve been running a lot lately. I’ve also been gaining a lot lately. As in weight. Probably about 10 pounds. I’m not that upset about it because my running has improved. Would I like to lose 10 30 pounds? Of f*cking course.
However, instead of developing an eating disorder, I decided to focus on other things, like speeding up my running. Last June, I ran a 5k in 35:14 (an 11:20 pace) and I weighed about 10 pounds less than I do now.
On Wednesday, I ran a 5k in 29:17 (a 9:26 pace) and I’m pretty happy about that. That’s also the fastest I’ve run a 5k since 2004. Not bad.
It probably helped that I had to run on a parade route with a bunch of weirdos watching me, though.
But I was thrilled when I was done and saw a “29” on the clock!
And little Kai was really excited when I brought him the free sh*t I got at the race.
And when we went to breakfast…he even wanted to sit with me!!!
Although, he loves his dad waaaaaaaay more.
So I drowned my sorrows in two huge plates of food.
I still don’t understand why I’ve gained all this weight…hmm.
I gained weight when I trained for a marathon a long time ago. No matter how many miles I ran it just couldn’t counteract all the crap I shoved down my pie hole. Way to be speedy. That is awesome.
Great Job!! love the pictures with kai!!!!
