Yesterday, I went into the office for work (I normally work from home) and an amazing thing happened – 3 people told me I looked like I lost weight!!! This either means (1) that I looked like a total fatso the last time I was in the office (a real possibility) or (2) that my new dress took off 10 pounds. I’m going to go with option 2.
A few months ago, Sarah from A Beach Cottage posted about the Maxi dress. I’ve never bought one because I thought it was a style I couldn’t wear. I commented on Sarah’s post that I love Maxi dresses, but don’t wear them because carry my weight in my lower half (yes, that’s why I post so many pictures from my boobs up). Sara replied that I should try them out again so I decided to live on the edge and bought Maxi dress.
This was my workplace appropriate outfit yesterday:
I added the cardigan because I thought I looked too naked without it.
I actually really like it! The best part…it is so comfortable!!! It’s a non-clingy fabric and shape (a must for me) and very cool. The only issue?
It’s not the right size, and probably a size too big. But it was the only one at Kohl’s and it really only needed to be taken in underneath the bust line. I used safety pins to fix this…because I’m so crafty.
One on each side. The dress was only about $30 (with 20% off) and I’m totally happy with it. And, as it turns out, I’m just about the right height (5’8) for this dress. No alterations needed on the length!
I love it and unfortunately (for you) you will probably see me wearing this every day this summer.
***Thank you to my friend, Keri, for taking one million pictures of me after dinner last night. We had some difficulty and yes, the ones I posted were the good ones.***
I love it and you look so pretty! Cracks me up that you bought one way too big but good job with the safety pins.
Thanks! Safety pins were my only option because I have no idea how to sew anything!!!!
I use safety pins and duck tape for most repairs. Love your blog. You look so beautiful and George….I am jealous of your spa day. Love from the Burg!
You look great and that’s awesome it’s comfortable, too!
Love it!!! You look great… as always 🙂
Ha! Thanks.
My husband asks me pretty much daily why I’m so dressed up because I’m living in maxi dresses this summer (it’s been “summer” in Alabama for months now)! They are more comfortable to me than shorts or jeans.. You look great in it, it’s very flattering!
Way more comfortable than shorts or jeans. And I think I’m going to look for more dresses this weekend!
I lived in maxi dresses in the early 70’s. Think I am getting too old for that look, especially since I won’t go sleeveless =( Have a lovely day!
