Face Beautification

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned that G and I are just not that much alike…and he’s way more high maintenance than I am.  Have I mentioned that it takes him 2 hours to get ready?  Every day.  And his usual shift at work begins at 5:00 am.  He gets up at 3:00 am to get ready and he’s always running late.  WTF?!!!

At this point I’m used to it, but it still amazes me.  Anyway, today I thought I’d share our different approaches to taking care of our fat faces.

First, let’s talk about me.

I’m pretty low maintenance.  I like to look nice, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time (or money) trying to look nice.  My skin care regimen pretty much coincides with that.

I use Dove bar soap.  I only buy 2 at a time and they are like $1 each or something.  If I bought 10, I’d probably get a better deal, but I feel like a hoarder when I do things like that.  I also use moisturizer.  Lately, I’ve been using Clean & Clear, but I’ve also used Oil of Olay.  I like it to have an SPF in it, but otherwise I don’t really care.  And that’s it.

Are you ready to see what G uses on his face?  Well, let’s take a look at his big, fat face first.

Okay, remember him?  These are the products G uses to keep his face looking beautiful:

That’s right, he uses 6 products a day!!!  Wow.

G uses the Biore (a deep cleanser), the Gillete Fusion (an aftershave), the Neutrogena (a day moisturizer) and the Oil of Olay (a night moisturizer) once per day.  He uses the Stridex pads and the Topical Gel twice per day.

Speaking of the Topical Gel…

That stuff is like acid.  Because G has very oily skin, he has a prescription for it (you can only get it with a prescription).  My skin is more on the normal/dry side of the skin spectrum and when that gel gets on my face it feels like my skin is burning off.  I’m not joking.  It is some serious stuff.  However, whenever I get a blemish, I put that stuff on and it works like a miracle.  Thank god we have good health insurance because that little container (that lasts one month) costs $362!!!  With our insurance it’s only $20.  Insane.

So that’s how we keep our gorgeous faces looking gorgeous semi-presentable.

How about you?  Do you use one product or millions?

Hahaha on George’s face regimen, although I’m not a whole lot better really. I don’t have anything in front of me so I’m going off the top of my head really. At night I use a neutrogena foaming cleanser, which is fabulous. Then after that I use Clearskin skin pads then after that I use Oil of Old Lady night cream and I slather that crap on to where you would slide off my face if you tried. I do this because I’m a very “expressive” person with the eyes so that has left me with a grand canyon sized wrinkles on the forehead. In the morning I use a Neutrogena wrinkle remover with retina A, I used to use Kinerase wrinkle cream but it’s way more expensive and I didn’t like the consistency so I switched back to Neutrogena, which I love. I do still use Kinerase eye gel for the luggage under my eyes. I then use a tiny bit of Neutrogena cover up for any blemishes, etc and then finally I use BB cream (medium) for my face. I cannot stand the feel of a foundation or powder and I have found that BB cream works excellent both in coverage and the feel of it, I don’t feel like my face is going to fall off and then I go about doing my eyes and that’s its. It sounds like a lot but each process takes less than 15 minutes, face crap/eye make-up and all. The longer part is doing something with my increasingly nappy hair. The older I get the more grays are popping up and they are not straight and coarse they are spiral like a bad 90’s perm, so going over the hair with my instyler takes about 45 minutes so an hour tops to get ready for a semi-decent face/hair day. haha. Sad part is I’m almost 37 and just now started doing all this crap. I do have to say that I only do the eyes and hair if I’m going somewhere like the doctor, the kids school and church, the rest of the week I just use my creams and keep moving since I work from home I don’t bother getting “fixed” up. I should just start my own blog but I hate to write just for me, haha.

Ok, I have to ask…what takes two hours??? ;0 Does that include a workout? I mean really, there’s no hair styling involved..just showering/shaving/face cream applying, get dressed..wth? That is too funny! having said that, my husband also takes longer than I do to get ready. Blow drying his hair is a process, and get this..he even curls his eyelashes. I don’t even curl my lashes!

    Products here:
    wash face w/Cetaphil gentle cleanser
    organic essence serum
    CO Bigelow eye creme
    ” ” sunscreen/moisturizer

At night I repeat the above, but add organic essence night cream instead.

  3. I wash my face with Neutrogena foaming face wash and use Clinique eye gel for puffiness. I use Clinique moisturizer (I have one for day and one for night) and then I also use firming eye cream from Clinique at night. I used to use Dove but my skin changed and it was way cheaper, for sure. I use a full spectrum of makeup but I can put it all on (spackle, I call it) in 10 minutes.

You are such a liar. We all know you used to be a man and have to wear five kinds of concealer to cover your five o’clock shadow.
