After running the half-marathon and driving for two hours, we arrived at King Estate Winery.
I was so happy to see those gates…and so starving!!
We parked the car and G finally agreed to put on a shirt.
And I posed for a weird picture with the sign.
The winery is at the top of the hill and the crab fest is held at a barn-like building on the property. Here’s a picture of the winery from the crab fest building.
It was so pretty with the light dusting of snow that day.
Last year, they had a big, blow-up crab to take pictures with so we were sad when it wasn’t there this year. Fortunately, we still have pictures from last year.
G can’t resist anything inflatable…especially dolls.
Anyway, we were the first to arrive from our group so I checked out the menu.
It was all-you-can-eat (and drink) so G and I were ready.
And you don’t have to worry about eating like a fatpig because they give you bibs!
It was at about this time that the rest of our group showed up and we finally got to get some food!!
And did I mention there were trays of butter and bowls of aioli?
If I remember correctly there was plain butter, garlic butter, and saffron butter. After filling our plates full and going back for butter and soup, we sat down to feast!
From left to right, that’s Julie, Randy, Barb, Mitch, G, Kathleen and Steve. You may recognize Steve and Kathleen from the Prost8k walk last June. Thankfully, they have pretty low standards when it comes to choosing friends so we keep getting invited to the Crab Fest! Thanks Steve and Kathleen!!
And doesn’t G look like a total creeper in that picture?!! He totally is. A great group of people and we laughed a lot!
I had to put my hair back so I could get serious about cracking crab.
After going through the crab buffet a couple of times, it was time for us to try to demolish the dessert table. I mean, look at it…doesn’t it look like someone should demolish it?
Everyone was done eating by the time G and I got to dessert so I sent G to get a plate of desserts for us to share while I continued to crack crab.
I wish I could say that we shared one plate of desserts, but G ending up going back for another one. Yes, we’re that embarrassing.
And I enjoyed every last bite!
We had so much fun and ate so much food!! I highly recommend this event to anyone who loves crab (and/or wine) and eating a ton of food.
***King Estate Winery does not know who I am…well, they might, but only because I ate so much. They did not sponsor this post.***
Wow. That all looks amazing, and now I’m craving seafood! I haven’t had crab legs in ages…
Thanks for your wonderful blog of a memorable day!!
We missed the giant inflatable crab this year, so it was special to see it again,
but to see the pic of George with that giant crab. Priceless!
The crabfest was so good; I gained 5 lbs in 1 day! I can’t wait til next year!
That looks DELICIOUS!! Jealous!
Looks like a ton of fun! My kind of place!
You’re so pretty girl! You’re gorgeous both made up and au naturel! =)
Thank you!! You are too nice!
