First, I must thank all of you for your comments about G’s dad. I am now in Chicago and the family is doing as well as can be expected. Thank you.
In the meantime, I will be recapping some of my adventures from last week. First up, there was an appearance by my alter ego, The Harpist. My mom and I were asked to play at a holiday party.
That was me “warming up”. I usually refuse to practice and this time was no different. I’m more of a “fly by the seat of my pants” kind of girl when it comes to playing a harp job, especially when I’m only playing background music. However, if I were playing for a wedding or on stage I would have practiced my balls off.
My mom practices much more than I do.
She also dresses more festively.
After I told mom I’d start playing first (we were alternating through the night), she finally agreed to take some pictures of me.
I didn’t wear the scarf all night, but it was pretty cold when we first got there and apparently I was still wearing the scarf at this point.
And you’ll notice that I have no nail polish on…so very sad. That’s apparently some harpist rule. You can’t wear nail polish because it’s distracting. I did manage to put on a couple of coats of clear polish, though. Fortunately, this didn’t affect my ability to smile my balls off.
Mostly because these were the only “people” that heard us play:
Okay, well actually there were real humans there too and we got a lot of compliments (and some applause). It was a fun night and really fun to play a job with my mom!
I’m so sorry to hear about G’s Dad. Your family is in my prayers.
I’m impressed with the “people” in your audience!
Very cool talent! We had a harpist play in the lobby at the hospital I work at once. It was beautiful!!
