I’m taking the long drive into work today. I usually go in every other week or so to check in or pick stuff up, or whatever. I have to go in today to deal with some computer issues I’ve been having, but it also happens to be the same day as the holiday potluck. I wasn’t planning on being at work until yesterday so last night I had to throw something together pretty quickly.
Bring on the Toffee Gooey Butter Cake! It’s easy, people love it and it’s a Paula Deen recipe. You can’t go wrong. Here are the ingredients:
There are two layers: one with the cake and one with the toffee.
That’s the cake layer (cake mix, butter and an egg)…it is unbelievably good.
And when you pour the toffee chips into the top layer, it looks heavenly.
Really. The mixture is just powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir in the toffee bits and pour the whole thing over the cake layer. Then throw that butter and sugar pan of heaven in the oven.
And in 40-50 minutes you’ll have this beauty:
And your house will smell amazing…for hours.
And then you’ll realize you can use your oven as a tripod and take pictures of yourself with your creation.
Magnificent.
And yes, I change my nail polish again. That’s Essie’s “Bobbing for Baubles”.
Did you want to see it a little bit better? Okay.
Hope you’re having an excellent Wednesday!!
If it is a Paula Deen recipe, it is probably both the most delicious thing you will ever eat, and also the most deadly, haha. But seriously, looks amazing!
When are you stopping by my place to drop off that cake?
First of all, that looks really good…and I’m not at all surprised to see that much butter in a Paula Dean recipe. Second, thank you for a good laugh this morning. I needed that!
You’re welcome. Sometimes a surprise flip-off is just what you need to get your day started right.
my favorite saying by Paula is “everything tastes better with a stick of butter.” BTW, your nails always look so fabulous that you inspired me to paint my nails this morning. The color is not as exciting as yours (light pink), but it was a lot more exciting than working on quashing a subpoena.
Pretty much anything is better than doing something legal. But I have to admit, the word “quash” has always been one of my favorites.
Haha you crack me up. The last picture turned what was a craptastic day to a great one, thanks for the laugh I definitely needed it!
