A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about my bucket list. I finally decided to take some action to cross some sh*t off before I’m too old.
Up first, I signed up for the Cascade Half Marathon in Turner, Oregon on January 15, 2012. I know, I can’t believe it either. I don’t like running and I’m not particularly good at it. But, for some reason, completing a half and a full marathon are on my bucket list. I need to get these things done and I guess 2012 is the year.
So why did I pick this race? Well, it says it’s “flat and fast”. I’m pretty sure I won’t be fast, but a flat course would be a dream for me.
I’ve started recruiting friends to run “with me” and I’m pretty sure this weirdo has already signed up for the half marathon:
That’s Steph. She runs fast, but says she’s going to run with me so she can bother me. I’m pretty sure I’m going to cry.
I also invited this chick:
Ann Marie is also a fast runner. I do not expect to run with her AT ALL. But I’ll wave when she sprints by at warp speed.
And Kristy (on the right) is planning to run the 10k portion of the Cascade Half.
I’ll try to get Lea (on the left) to join in, but so far that’s the tentative crew.
I’m already regretting signing up for this thing and I really have no idea what I’ve gotten myself into. I think I’m just going to bathe in body glide and hope to finish before they close the course (and I get run over by a car).
In honor of my registration I sent myself an ecard:
I should probably make myself a t-shirt of this.
im going to wear a tutu and drink beer instead of water…this is going to be AWESOME! can you drive me home after?
If you poop your pants; please shower before you come home! 🙂
That is my FAVORITE ecard of all time!!! That was my goal in my first full marathon….to cross the finish line and NOT sh*t my pants in public. I was successful. However some dude sh*t his pants at mile 3. I bet it was a long 23 after that!!! Good luck!!
You rock! So impressive and I LOVE your e-card!
Good luck on your 1/2! I am sure you will do great!!
