Because Saturday was full of very different types of events, I thought I’d do 3 separate posts about it.
First up…running the 5k with The Triplets:
We didn’t know how we’d look after the race, so we thought we take pictures at the finish for vanity sake. We even had Kristy’s dog, Ripley, pose with us.
For some reason, I tend to have friends shorter than me and when I take pictures with them, I hunch my shoulders. As you can see, the result is not very attractive, to say the least. And in this case, it makes it appear as if I have no boobs. This is yet another reason I need a boob job…so if I hunch, it won’t matter because they’ll be right in your face.
Anyway, Ripley wasn’t too pleased about picture time and preferred to spend his time rolling in duck poop and swimming in the river.
I felt bad for Ripley because, obviously, his parents neglect him and don’t let him run around with leis around his neck. We contemplated putting the leis on Ripley to see if that dog’s owner would try to take Ripley home, but we decided not to be complete @ssholes that early in the morning.
I think the best part of the race was seeing this girl dance.
There was music playing before the start of the race. This is pretty typical for the races I’ve run in the past. However, this is the first time I’ve seen someone really get down to the music. But I can’t blame her, I love Will Smith’s Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It too. Thank you girl for rocking out before the race, it was excellent entertainment.
And I started to prepare my hair for the race.
The race began at 10:05 am for us (the 10k-ers started at 10:00 am). My goal for the race was to run the whole thing. Unfortunately, the only real training I did was last weekend at the track…and I only ran 2 miles. I was definitely afraid I wouldn’t meet my goal. Lea was planning on a run/walk interval type of race.
Kristy, on the other hand, has been running her balls off for about a year now and I really think she wanted to win the race. I told her from the beginning to ditch me if she wanted to run faster because CTW only has two speeds, slow and really slow. A little before 1/2 way, Kristy took off, never to be seen again…ok, well I saw her at the end.
I met my goal and didn’t walk at all!! Yay me. The race was good and I think everyone had a good time. Then it was time for pictures after the race.
I looked at this one and decided I needed to adjust “the girls”…
and not hunch my shoulders…this was the result:
I was hoping we’d win the raffle prizes at the end of the race (and threatened to burn down the registration tent when we didn’t), but we did get to go home with this stuff:
It was a good time and we were driving away by 11:00 am. Not bad!
Oh, and a big THANK YOU to Kristy’s husband, Andy, for taking pictures of us, Ripley and the dancing girl!!
Next up: Part II, Eat Your Balls Off!!
